ABOUT INTO THE LIGHT

With tears in his eyes, he said simply: “Kim — write me a song. Please.”

I wrote it. And then I spent the next seven years writing the rest of them.

INTO THE LIGHT is the album that emerged from the most profound chapter of my life — the long months of walking my husband to the threshold, the grief that followed, and the slow, quiet process of finding my way back to beauty, to music, and to myself.

For a long while after he passed, music lived more in the background. Not because it wasn’t important — but because life required something else from me. There was family to hold, responsibilities to carry, a reality to navigate that I had been dreading for a long time. And still, beneath all of it, the music kept calling me back.

The creation of INTO THE LIGHT became the place where I could finally meet what I had been carrying — grief, love, devotion, change — and begin to make sense of it through sound. It is a love letter. It is a record of transformation. And it is the most honest work I have ever made.

The album is complete. The journey continues.

My hope is that INTO THE LIGHT meets people wherever they are — in grief, in transition, in the quieter and more searching moments of life — and offers something grounding, honest, and deeply human. These songs tell the story of a love that transcends human form, and of a woman finding her way forward through the long aftermath of loss.
