About Into The Light

Song of the Space Between Loss and Life

With tears in his eyes, he said simply: “Kim — write me a song. Please.”

I wrote it. And then I spent the next seven years writing the rest of them.

INTO THE LIGHT is the album that emerged from the most profound chapter of my life — the long months of walking Brian to the threshold, the grief that followed, and the slow, quiet process of finding my way back to beauty, to music, and to myself.

For a long while after Brian passed, music lived more in the background. Not because it wasn’t important — but because life required something else from me. There was family to hold, responsibilities to carry, a reality to navigate that I had been dreading for a long time. And still, beneath all of it, the music kept calling me back.

The creation of INTO THE LIGHT became the place where I could finally meet what I had been carrying — grief, love, devotion, change — and begin to make sense of it through sound. It is a love letter to Brian. It is a record of transformation. And it is the most honest work I have ever made.

This is also the first album I have self-produced — a choice that made it deeply personal and required it to unfold slowly, over time. I learned to record at home, to layer textures and voices, to find exactly the right collaborators for each song. I am proud and grateful to have worked with extraordinary musicians including MB Gordy, Hans Christian, Manose Singh, Todd Boston, Vito Gregoli, and others whose artistry is woven into the album.

The album is complete. The journey continues.

Your support will not go toward the creation of the music — that work is done. What you are helping to fund is bringing it into the world: the video, the promotion, the pathways that allow this music to reach the people who may need it most.

My hope is that INTO THE LIGHT meets people wherever they are — in grief, in transition, in the quieter and more searching moments of life — and offers something grounding, honest, and deeply human. These songs tell the story of a love that transcends human form, and of a woman finding her way forward through the long aftermath of loss.

I have been making this quietly for seven years. I am so grateful to finally be sharing it — and so grateful you are here.

With love — Kimberly 🤍
